The Right Care for Leather Sofas
With minimal care, a leather sofa can last several years and still have a sensuous lure. Leather sofas are synonymous with luxury and class, and yet are quite durable and practical for those who lead very busy lives. The softness of a leather sofa today is far more superior to the leather furniture products of just a few short years ago. Leather is the strongest upholstery material used today. It does not readily burn or melt, and it is unlike other fabrics and vinyls. It is also very difficult to puncture.
While very little needs to be done to care for your leather sofa, a monthly wiping with a clean, warm and damp cloth will prevent body oils and dust from building up. Doing so will certainly prolong the life of your sofa. It is also important to note that you should never use soap, abrasive cleanser, furniture polish or oils, or ammonia water on your leather sofa--most liquids will initially be repelled, but if left to sit over an extended period of them, they can be absorbed and they can stain the leather.
